Opening a brokerage account in Canada

Canadian banks pay very little interest on your money, so I have no interest giving them any significant amount of my hard-earned money :). Instead, I opened a brokerage account that I will use to access variety of financial products globally, hopefully with a bit more in profit than zero.

Opening a brokerage account is easy and could be done online. That’s exactly the way to go, since a brokerage firm of my choice is Interactive Brokers that has no office in Vancouver (they have a Canadian office in Quebec only).

Once you fill all the forms they require, you provide them with a certified copy of your ID (passport). Once confirmed, you are given wire transfer instructions and you transfer the money. Once done, you’re ready to go.

There is not so much more of details now, but I’m going to inform you more down the road.
